Amanda Tapping

An Amanda Tapping photo should definitely clue you in on the next series The eye will be covering over the next few months. Few months? Who am I kidding? There are 214 episodes! Get settled in until July, dear readers.

I wavered over my choices for the last month exactly like I said I would. Two factors put Stargate SG-1 over the top. One, the last month or so of reviews have been jarring. Being forced to switch gears between short run series every week or two did not let me settle settle into a comfortable groove. Considering some general grumbles at said reviews, I think you noticed. It felt like it was time to choose a long series for a comfortable pace and some set expectations for a while. Two, science fiction fandom in general cites Stargate Sg-1 along with Star Trek and Doctor Who as the best franchises in the genre, yet I am not all that familiar with it. I must be missing something, no?

Fair warning--I am going into these reviews without knowing much about the show. I have seen about twenty episodes scattered throughout the series run. Most of those were at least five years ago or more. I have done Google searches for general fan opinion while deciding whether I wanted to take the plunge, I have only the vaguest idea which episodes are considered classics. The bottom line is I certainly do not have the whole picture in mind, so these reviews are going to be far more an episode by episode journey of discovery than a fan reminiscing like many other series reviewed.

Word is the series starts out slow and does not really pick up until the second season. We shall see how the show rings my bell, if at all. It could be a rough seven months. I would hate to have the gaters after me as well as the Browncoats for brutal reviews.
