Billy Ray Cyrus Blames Satan and David Lynch for His Problems

Remember that, folks. When anything goes wrong in your life, blame Satan and David Lynch. Or more realistically, yourself. When you hand your daughter over to disney completely so they can create a new person out of her as a cash cow and you allow them free reign because you want to heal the achey, breaky heart caused by the loss of your fame and fortune, there is no one to blame but yourself.

ctrus peaks of his regret over allowing the Hannah Montana phenomenon to happen in a GQ interview. i would like to give him the benfit of the doubt he is concerned over the damage his cashing in has done to his daughter Miley, but I note the timing of his interview--long after the gravy train has end its run. Miley is eighteen and no longer sharing the wealth with daddy, who is now reduced to hosting a reality show about paranormal activity.

Note at the link that he is co-hosting the show with another of his children. Further proof he is not particularly concerned with how living in the spotlight might affect them. of course, hunting aliens and ghosts for syFy will not be as lucrative, so I guess it is okay. Sorta.

At least Cyrus admits his failure. He allowed Miley to do whatever she wanted as long as she was making money, justifying his action by claiming he always wanted to be a friend to his kids. Disney would force him to go out there and “play” daddy to cover up for incidents like the leaking off racy photos or the pole dancing. It is incredibly sad he confesses to playing the role of father, as though he has no clue how to be a father naturally.

Any honest observer could see Miley heading down the Lindsay Lohan Road for a long time now. Nothing truly bad has happened to her yet beyond the collection of tramp stamps, but give it time. She obviously has not been given the grounding she needs to remain on the straight and narrow. Her father knows it. She does not even have Disney velvet gloved iron fist protecting its corporate interest any longer. This will end badly, and all because of one man’s failure to be a father.

This is so completely not surprising and so indicative of Hollywood thinking - the idea that actions don't have consequences. Miley will be lucky to not be completely messed up as an adult.

Just more evidence of how soul-less and morally bankrupt our culture has become. In the days when Hank Sr. was singing about the Lost Highway we could feel the contrast between heaven and hell.
Today we are Christians because we wear a cross around out necks and put on our short pants to go to church. Nothing is real and rules have no meaning as there is no consequences for our actions.
Or perhaps it would be better to say, in the old days if you hung out at the tavern all day and didn't get your work done-you starved... If you were female and dispensed your favors without discretion and you drank and were a thief you ended up- well, one again you starved. Faced with death for misbehavior the need for God is more apparent. We have not made the transition or learned you need self control if you are not afraid of God.

The Cyrus family is making pretty much the same mistakes that a lot of people make all the time, Christian and otherwise. They're just doing it with a lot of money. I don't think they needed the Hannah Montana show to end up with a mess. They would have likely had a mess no matter what, because they don't take seriously the things they should and they don't seem to value what they should. Again, I don't think this makes them unique at all. It's a huge problem, in the Church and out. I've been praying for the guy and his family. I try to think what I would do if I knew them personally. What if they were friends of mine? How sad it would be to see their family come apart.
