Top Ten Women of The Wild Wild West

It is a slow news day. How about a list of my top ten favorite women from The Wild Wild West?10. Suzanne Pleshette ("The Night of the Inferno") Best known for playing Bob Newhart's wife in The Bob Newhart Show, Pleshette was the first femme fatale in The Wild Wild West's premiere episode where she appeared as a pistol packin' old flame of Jim West with a score to settle. She is also the first of two actresses on this list to play Bob NewHart's television wife.9. Arlene Martel ("The Night of the Circus of Death") Best known as Spock's bride to be, Martel had a brief appearance in this episode as a lion tamer. But what a brief ance.8. Jocelyn Lane ("The Night of the Watery Death") This Austrian born beauty was once married to Prince Alfonso of Hohenlohe-Langenburg. She quit acting after her marriage and assured her retirement in her twilight years by taking him to the cleaners in their 1985 divorce. She played a villain in “The Night of the Watery Death.” Go figure.7. Dawn Wells ("The Night of the Headless Woman") She was dear, sweet Mary Anne. What more reason do I need?6. Susan Oliver ("The Night Dr. Loveless Died") This multitalented Broadway actress and movie director was also an accomplished aviator who became the fourth woman to cross the Atlantic in a single engine plane and the second to do so from new York.. No wonder Dr. Miguelito Loveless found her so alluring.5. Barbara Luna ("The Night of the Deadly Bed") This exotic beauty of Italian, Hungarian, Portuguese, and Filipino decent has made a steady career for herself in television and movies from the ‘60’s right on up until 2010. Luna spends much of her time these days as a fundraiser for Cedars Sinai Hospital.4. Jennifer Douglas ("The Night of the Cossacks") She is from one of the worst episodes of the series, but that takes nothing away from how beautiful she is. Douglas is the second actress on this list to play Bob Newhart's television wife, this time on the '80's ewhart.3. Sherry Jackson ("The Night of the Vicious Valentine" and "The Night of the Gruesome Games") Probably most famous for her role as Terry Williams on Make Room for Daddy, Jackson was one of the first child stars to make the jump to adult star by doing an explicit nude scene in a film. Said film, the recently deceased Blake Edwards’ Peter Gunn remake Gunn, has never been released on VHS or DVD, but a pictorial spread of the scene was featured in a 1967 issue of Playboy. But that has nothing to do with her ranking here. 2. Yvonne Craig ("The Night of the Grand Emir")Most famous as Batgirl on the campy ‘60’s series Batman (She felt so connected with the role, she lead a campaign in the late ‘80’s to protest the character’s paralysis caused by the Joker in Batman: the Killing Joke because she felt it was demeaning), Craig portrayed a professional assassin on The Wild Wild West while showing off her skills as a trained dancer in an exotic Arabian dance sequence. Since leaving acting, Craig has become a real estate mogul in California. 1. Michele Carey ("The Night of the Feathered Fury" and "The Night of the Winged Terror, Part I/II") I am certain my number one choice comes as no surprise to anyone. I have been very vocal about my fondness for ms. Carey as well as my bewilderment her career in the spotlight was so short lived.. Carey went from starring with John Wayne in El Dorado to Elvis Presley in Live a Little, Love a Little to bit parts in television shows, and then, nada. She has not been seen or her from since a 1982 episode of The Fall Guy. Not the most illustrious of swan songs. Where art thou, dear Michele? Inquiring minds want to know.

Great post, Thanks. Would you do a "Where are they now" post?

I could, but all these woman are either in their 60's. 70's, or dead. It would be kind of macabre.

You do realize that at least half of those women (2, 3, 5, 6 & 9) were on Star Trek TOS?

No love for the incredibly talented Agnes Moorehead? An oversight surely. She did win the show its only Emmy Award after all.

Otherwise, nice list. Looking forward to the Top Ten Men of The Wild Wild West. (And here's a preemptive vote for Ricardo Montalban!)

Proof--I know, but not a factor.

Ibu--Listen to your Britney Spears CDs and eat ice cream out the carton while watching Sex in the City reruns. Maybe the desire will satiated.

What is that supposed to mean?!

I just felt that the omission of Agnes Moorehead was odd, especially considering her acting chops... that is all.
